LED lighting "people friendly" road is expected to be realized in the next three to five years

China's LED lighting industry has made rapid development in recent years, but its entry into the field of household consumption has been slow to expand. In this regard, officials from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China said that the difficulty in popularizing LED lighting to the public is mainly due to price and other reasons. In the next three to five years, the price of LED lighting products may be reduced to a level acceptable to the public.

Ding Wenwu, Director of the Electronic Information Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said today (10) at the Global High Efficiency Lighting Forum hosted by the United Nations Environment Programme that China's LED industry is now growing in market size and development. It has been widely used in various occasions. In the future, indoor and home lighting will be the biggest development focus. Only when people use it, they will be successful.

Ding Wenwu said that the current obstacles to LED lighting products entering household consumption are cost, quality and safety. With the improvement of technology and quality, the price of LED lighting products is expected to drop to a level acceptable to the public in three to five years. In fact, there are many products with the same price as energy-saving lamps.

Ding Wenwu said that China is the world's largest lighting producer, consumer and exporter. In 2013, the scale of China's lighting output value was close to 80 billion dollars, and its exports reached 33 billion dollars. However, most of the products exported are traditional products, so it is an inevitable choice to promote the transformation of China's lighting industry. The best choice is LED, which is also the most efficient energy-saving product.

According to the data of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the scale of China's LED industry in 2013 has reached 260 billion yuan, more than 42 billion U.S. dollars. "This year and next are expected to continue to maintain a 20% - 30% growth," Ding Wenwu said, but the product quality and safety must be greatly improved.
