What are the classifications of electronic potting adhesive?

There are many kinds of electronic potting adhesives, mainly including thermal conductive potting adhesive, epoxy resin potting adhesive, silicone potting adhesive, polyurethane potting adhesive and LED potting adhesive.

Heat conductive potting adhesive

Heat conductive potting adhesive Heat conductive potting adhesive (HCY) is a low viscosity flame retardant two-component addition molding silicone heat conductive potting adhesive. It can be cured at room temperature or by heating. It has the characteristics of faster curing with higher temperature. It is made from ordinary encapsulating silica gel or bonding silica gel by adding heat conductive materials. Generally, the products made by excellent manufacturers will not produce any by-products in the curing reaction, and can be applied to PC (Poly carbon), PP, ABS, PVC and other materials and metal surfaces. It is applicable to heat conduction, insulation, waterproof and flame retardancy of electronic accessories, and its flame retardancy should reach UL94-V0. It shall comply with the requirements of EU ROHS Directive. The main application field is the encapsulation of electronic, electrical components and electrical components, as well as the encapsulation of similar temperature sensors.

Epoxy resin sealant

Through the European Union ROHS designated standards, the cured product has high hardness, flat surface, good luster, and features fixation, insulation, water resistance, oil resistance, dust prevention, anti-theft, corrosion resistance, aging resistance, cold and hot shock resistance, etc. It is used to package electronic transformers, AC capacitors, negative ion generators, aquarium water pumps, ignition coils, electronic modules, LED modules, etc. It is applicable to the encapsulation of small and medium-sized electronic components, such as automobile, motorcycle igniter, LED drive power supply, sensor, ring transformer, capacitor, trigger, LED waterproof lamp, and circuit board for confidentiality, insulation, moisture-proof (water) encapsulation.

Silicone potting adhesive

There are many kinds of silicone potting adhesives. Different kinds of silicone potting adhesives have great differences in temperature resistance, water resistance, insulation, optical properties, adhesion to different materials, soft and hard properties. The silicone potting adhesive can be added with some functional fillers to give it the properties of conductivity, heat conduction and magnetic conductivity. The mechanical strength of silicone potting adhesive is generally poor. It is precisely this performance that makes it "breakable" for maintenance. That is, if a component fails, just pry off the potting adhesive and replace it with a new original.

The color of silicone potting adhesive can be adjusted as required. Or transparent or opaque or colored. The silicone potting adhesive has excellent performance in shockproof performance, electrical performance, waterproof performance, high and low temperature resistance, anti-aging performance, etc.

Two group silicone potting adhesive is the most common, which includes condensation type and additive type. Generally, the condensation type has poor adhesion to the components and the potting chamber, which will produce volatile low molecular substances during the curing process, and has a significant shrinkage after curing. The addition molding (also known as silicon gel) has very small shrinkage and no low molecular weight is produced during the curing process. It can be cured quickly by heating.

Filled PU Potting

PU potting adhesive is also called PU potting adhesive, which is usually formed by gradual polymerization of polyols and diisocyanates of low polymers such as polyacrylate, polyether and polydiolefin, and using binary alcohol or diamine as chain extender. Potting adhesive can usually be prepared by prepolymer method and one-step process.

Polyurethane potting materials are characterized by low hardness, moderate strength, good elasticity, water resistance, mold resistance, shock resistance, transparency, excellent electrical insulation and flame resistance, no corrosion to electrical components, and good adhesion to steel, aluminum, copper, tin and other metals, as well as rubber, plastic, wood and other materials. The potting material can prevent the electronic components and circuits installed and debugged from being affected by vibration, corrosion, moisture and dust.

LED potting adhesive

LED potting adhesive is a kind of auxiliary material for LED packaging, with high refractive index and high light transmittance, which can protect LED chips and increase the luminous flux of LED. It has low viscosity and is easy to defoaming. It is suitable for potting and molding, making LED have good durability and reliability.
